Marché and Medici

Wednesday morning greeted us with glorious sunshine and Yvie and Sharon set off for Montmartre whilst Russell, Rosey and I headed for the Jardin du Luxembourg. The gardens were created by Marie de' Medici, the widow of Henry IV, in 1612 to accompany a new palace.

The palace is now occupied by the French Senate which probably explains the guards at every corner of the building. The gardens cover 25 hectares and were being well utilised by tourists and locals alike soaking up the sunshine.

Medici Fountain

Absolutely loved the Medici Fountain, could have sat there all day but we were enticed by the sorbets and glacés on offer at the nearby cafe….

We watched a bit of sailing on the petit lake – think the Aussie yacht must have been in slips – and then decided to pop into Le Bon Marché one more time to introduce Rosey to it's delights……

I absolutely loved these sugar treats but managed to tear myself away, this time at least!

Yvie joined us for dinner – now we are five – and another entertaining night followed. Tomorrow night we will be six when Christy arrives and Fiona will complete the “Southern Seven” on Friday!
